Sunday, Dec. 13 – Yoga for the Nature Trust with Wendy

This practice is open to all and is intended to bring balance to the body-mind-spirit through gentle, modifiable postures, Gi Gong, flow, guided relaxation and meditation. Mats are available at the Iris Center located at 160 Sunset Drive. Please park in the rear parking lot and enter from the side door.

Times: 1:00 – 2:30 pm & 3:00 – 4:30 pm  ….. Classes are offered out of generosity and you are invited to make a donation the proceeds of which will be directed to the Nature Trust of New Brunswick for a local project to conserve the Ferris Street Forest & Wetland Nature Preserve on Fredericton’s Northside.

Dr. Cook’s Practice Winter Cycle of Mindfulness & Conscious Living Program

For those patients who have registered for and have been contacted for participation in the winter cycle of Dr. Cook’s Mindfulness  and  Conscious Living Program, this will begin January 6th and 7th and end February 24th and 25th assuming no cancellations for weather.    The sessions are 3 hours and each week builds on the learnings from the previous week so regular attendance is important. The program is focused on experiential learning and participants are invited into repeated practice over the 8 weeks of training.  There is also an ‘All Day’ training day, usually on Saturdays, around the 5-6 week of the program. The All Day training days for this cycle will likely be February 6th, 13th.  The following groups times are offered and you will have been notified and confirmed for your choice:

Wednesday evening 6:30-9:30

Thursday morning 9:00-12:00

Thursday afternoon 1:00-4:00

Iris Center Fall & Winter Yoga with Wendy & Bill

We are pleased to announce Fall & Winter Yoga at The Iris Center and remind you that we are smoke & scent free. During the fall when the weather is conducive some classes may be held outside on the yoga deck under the tent by the pond so please come prepared with layered clothing. As in the past, our teachers offer classes out of generosity for the benefit of all.  The Center does invite you to offer a donation (“dana” … generosity of heart) to your teacher and to support the operations of the Center.

Monday a.m. 9:00 – 10:30                starting November 23rd                 Mindfulness Yoga for women only; all levels

Thursday p.m. 5:00 – 6:30             starting November 19th                Mindfulness Yoga for all; all levels welcome

 Yoga with Bill

Sunday a.m. 9:30 – 12:00              starting November 22nd                   Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation for all; all levels welcome    

As in past years we will have a general theme to explore with our practice and this year we will be exploring “Understanding Ourselves” .  The class is mindfulness oriented and includes opening reflection and intention, half hour of warm up, an hour of asana (posture) practice and  flow, 20 minutes of deep relaxation practice, followed by pranayama (breathing practice), meditation, closing intention and dedication of practice.

Iris Center Yoga with Wendy & Bill

Current Yoga Classes at Iris Center

Our winter cycle of yoga classes has commenced and will continue through the rest of the winter and spring with only a few interruptions until mid-late June . We hope you will join us regularly and share in the energy of   integration and union our classes offer.  As always, our classes are offered freely from our hearts  for your benefit and the benefit of all. We invite participants to leave a donation of gratitude so The Center can continue it s operations.

Although it looks like we will get some snow overnight, the parking lot is now clear and we hope any accumulation will be slight so plan to continue with Yoga class tomorrow morning as usual at 9:30.  Use your own discretion and if you decide to join me drive safely.

Winter Solstice Yoga Class with Rachel

The Winter Solstice is a time for celebration and intention setting for the New Year.
Join Rachel, December 21st 1-3 pm, on the most Yin day of the year to celebrate the shortest day, the longest night and the return of the Light!

The practice of 108 Sun Salutations is a long standing ritual in yoga, 4 times a year to start each season and acknowledge change around and within us.

We will do our Sun Salutations in 4 sets of 27 to give time for a bathroom break and water replenishing.
It takes approx ~1 1/2 – 2 hours to complete and will finish with a Savasana relaxation practice.

This is the day when darkness surrenders and everyday has more light, bringing a powerful energy and the opportunity to align with our intentions and purpose in the busiest season of the year.

Participants are encouraged to bring a journal to keep track of learning though it is not necessary.

This workshop is all levels and offered by donation. With the funds received I am sending something awesome to a community in need.

This workshop will focus on connection, building our understanding of how touch is our primary language for compassion and open access to the transformative emotional, mental and physical healing accessible.

Education/Orientation Session on MindBody Medicine

Education / Orientation Session is held most months as part of the consultation process and sets the stage for all further training programs. The program consists of a 3 hour, group education session to introduce you, through both didactic and experiential approaches, to the concepts and practices of MindBody Medicine and get you started on a potentially different path than you are currently on or if you are already practicing self-regulation to help you deepen your practice.
